The decreasing trend in the numbers relating to the pandemic emergency creates
solid conditions for the smooth running of the 47th edition of the RomaOstia Half
Marathon scheduled for Sunday 6 th March 2022.
Great enthusiasm and desire from the thousands of runners who want to return and
run the most famous half marathon in Italy after two complicated years. From the
sudden suspension of the race in 2020 a few days before the event, to a last
edition, that of October, extraordinarily in “autumn version” and with a limited
number, which with its 4432 finishers was, in any case, the race in Italy with the
highest number of competitive athletes at the finish.

THE MEMBERS

With still 30 days to the date of departure, there are over 6500 participants in the
47th edition.
“In this very complicated moment, there is no stronger evidence of the bond that
exists between our race and running enthusiasts” – says Luciano Duchi, president
of the RomaOstia Half Marathon – “Over 6500 people can’t wait to compete on our
very fast track and this encourages us to organize a great race. We will do it safely
and in full compliance with current regulations. We will do this by engaging, as
always, the entire Organizing Committee, represented by the GSBRun Romani
Banking Sports Group in collaboration with RCS Sports & Events”.

ROUTE

The same track of 2021 remains confirmed, in which some changes were
introduced compared to previous editions. In particular, the last few meters of back
and forth before the finish were eliminated. Meters have been added at the
beginning of the route, the part that winds through the Eur district.
One variation was widely tested and well tested by the participants just last
October, with excellent feedback of a technical nature and on the chronometric
feedback, provided both by the elite runners and by the thousands of amateurs who
took part in the race; in particular, the location of the new finish line, located directly
in the square, where a view of the sea, was appreciated. The positioning of the
starting line remains unchanged, in the immediate vicinity of the Palalottomatica
(Palazzetto dello Sport) and the procedures for carrying out the same: we will start
in groups of about 1500 athletes following, with scrupulous attention, the directions
from FIDAL relating to the conduct of on road races.

ROMAOSTIA HOUSE IN PIAZZALE NERVI (PALASPORT, EUR)

To ensure the greatest possible safety for participants and operators, RomaOstia
headquarters will also be set up outdoors for the 47th edition, in Piazzale Pier Luigi
Nervi, in front of the PalaLottomatica. A few steps from where the race will start on
Sunday 66 th March. Here, in addition to collecting the race kit and bib, it will be

possible to meet all the partners and sponsors of the event to discover and test the
various products.

GREAT PROTAGONISTS AT THE START!

As usual, the absolute competitive race will be particularly qualified.
In the next few days, once the reserves have been dissolved, the names of the elite
runners, protagonists of this 47th edition, will be announced. And the spotlight is on
the women’s race: “We are working to have a great athlete in Rome who wants to
test her condition, running a great RomaOstia” – adds Luciano Duchi – “I hope to be
able to announce it soon and above all I can’t wait to see her run on our path”.

JERSEY AND RACE KIT PARTICIPANTS

The official Joma RomaOstia jersey, always awaited by the running population, will
be presented in a few days as an item to show off in training.
In the race kit delivered to all members, in addition to the jersey, there is also the
Gym Bag, by Joma, useful for storing the clothing in the competition and the
partners’ gadgets. For all finishers the medal of this edition will be presented, in
addition to the practical and light windbreaker and raincoat to wear after the finish
line.
