We are quickly approaching the 46th edition of the Huawei Rome Ostia Half Marathon which will take place on March 8th.
Among the most relevant innovations of the next edition, the main one is concerning the route. There will be a longer section of the Eur district before entering the straight towards the sea. The finish line will be located right next to the roundabout this year, at the end of Via Cristoforo Colombo, thus eliminating the short round trip where athletes previously ran on the Ostia seafront, making the track even faster and smoother.
The variation of the route, which the organisers are submitting to the Public Administration, could make the Huawei Roma Ostia, already the scene of important world-wide performances, even faster by eliminating the change of direction at the end of race. It would also make the race more exciting as the participants arriving towards the finish line would be able to see the sea straight in front of them.
THE WAVES START – Also for the next year the organisers confirm the wave departure: participants will be lined up in various grids according to the declared times, completed on the half marathon distance in 2018-2019-2020, and scrupulously checked in order to allow everyone to run at their own pace from the first meters.
EASIER PARTICIPATION FOR FOREIGNERS – For the Huawei RomaOstia finally non-registered foreign athletes will be able to participate without having to present a medical certificate but simply signing a disclaimer.
The Italian Athletics Federation has recently amended a regulation which, until now, obliged the organisers to accept only certificates that conformed to the Italian legal system. Now foreigners, for tourist-sporting purposes, will be able to take part in this and other national events without the many difficulties – signing of a runcard + certificate – valid for up to a few months.
Naturally the participation regulations for foreign athletes registered for sports clubs affiliated to foreign federations remain unchanged.
